Maian Protectors (XBLA appearance)
The Maians are a peaceful but organized alien race in the Perfect Dark series. They are the allies of the Carrington Institute.
Nicknamed "Greys" by their skin color (and classic alien appearance), the Maians have a deep interest in the universe and explore the regions of space for knowledge that they wished to learn.
However, they were dead locked in a centuries-long war against their sworn enemy, the dangerous reptilian Skedar, and both sides were eventually forced into a temporary truce.
During their time of post-war, the Maians eventually discovered Earth and made contact with a certain inhabitant, whom they grew fond with due to his welcoming approach. As such, Daniel Carrington is permitted to summon his newly-founded extraterrestrial allies in times of desperate need of help.
Culture[]
Maians usually approach other non-Maian planets such as Earth through an Ambassador; who was likely held responsible for the political and relationship exchanges between the Maians and their clients. The Ambassador is also usually not without armed escort, which the Protectors are charged to do for safety.

Elvis[]

Elvis, also known as "Protector 1", is the most well-known Maian and one of the protectors of the Ambassador. He usually accompanies Joanna during much of his adventures after leaving the Area 51 operation outside cover, proving a valuable ally. As such, the two became great friends.
Appearances[]
Elvis is the first Maian to be seen, in Area 51: Infiltration. During a cutscene, he was seen, through Steinburg's footage, on a hoverbed, due for dissection. He will also appear in Crash Site, Pelagic II, Deep Sea, and in Attack Ship. In Attack Ship, two Maian Protectors are seen accompanying Elvis to help Joanna take control of the ship, and in the bonus mission WAR!, which takes place just after the end of the game, many Maian soldiers are seen finishing off the last of the Skedar after the bombardment.
The unlockable Perfect Buddy Alien, is a Maian Protector for the Co-Op mode.
Trivia[]
- Maians have green blood rather than red.
- If the DK Mode cheat is on, Maians will have a humorously massive head over twice as large as their bodies, making headshots on them becoming extremely easy.
- Their appearance is based on the famously common portrayal of grey aliens shown in many types of media. This concept was created by the Barney and Betty Hill incident, which was a presumed alien abduction of a couple. The description of the aliens created the appearance of the famous grey aliens.
