Daniel Carrington is an intelligent scientist/entrepreneur, and founder/CEO of the Carrington Institute. He is Joanna Dark's boss, who he sees as a very valuable servant for his work.

Profile[]

As a businessman, Carrington plans all missions carried out by his agents and runs each operation direct from a link in his office. He even owns a private villa, which there is a direct link to the Institute. Daniel has been described to have a strange taste in clothes, as he is most often seen wearing tweed suits. For unknown, but justifiable prior reasons, Carrington holds a strong grudge against dataDyne, and believes that the only good dataDyne is no dataDyne at all. It is said that he once had a relationship with dataDyne's CEO Cassandra De Vries, in the events of Perfect Dark Zero, but now they have grown a bitter rivalry toward each other.

Being the founder of Carrington Institute, Daniel used to work in a company called Secure Development International, found and led by his parents. He then decided to disband and created his own private military research and development center designed to produce revolutionary technology such as the Null-G, and train professional hackers and covert agents. However, the main reason for his founding, as seen in Carrington Institute: Defense, was to have friendly communication with the the Maians.

In the beginning of the game, when the AI Dr. Carroll sent a help plea to the Institute, he sends Joanna to dataDyne headquarters to rescue him. Soon after, Cassandra De Vries sent dataDyne to capture him inside his own villa as they demanded the return of the Al in exchange for his life, and must be rescued himself. However, dataDyne was a little too late, as Daniel and Dr. Carroll had already exchanged valuable information about its plans before being captured. This was enough that he called in "friends" - actually the Maians, to help stop them. As the story progresses until Deep Sea, Carrington continues to plan and aid Joanna's mission goals, with the assistance of Jonathan Steinberg and Elvis. After completing his goal at destroying the Cetan Ship, seemingly ending his work at stopping dataDyne and the Skedar from causing global chaos, he and Joanna decided to celebrate for a Presidential reception at the White House alongside the Maian delegation. Unfortunately, their enemies had begun an unexpected full-on assault attack on the Institute, forcing Joanna to evacuate as many of the staff as possible before she herself got knocked out and captured by the Skedar.

Daniel after Carrington Institute: Defense is never seen or heard ever again in the game, but he has managed to escape safely and survived the attack. The reason why he couldn't communicate to Joanna in Attack Ship and Skedar Ruins is she is well outside Earth's reach in those missions, and she and Elvis had to work together to finish their job and exterminate the Skedar. However, he is very likely assumed to be the one who sent Elvis and a few Maian Protectors to help Joanna in the first place.
