Cloaking Device

Added by DiscobadgerThe Cloaking Device is a device that appears in Perfect Dark. It can turn the user invisible for a limited amount of time. It can be toggled on and off as needed. While in use, if the user fires a weapon, it will deactivate temporarily.
There is a cheat which gives you a cloaking device in single player, lasting for 120 seconds. Also, it can take one of the weapon slots in Combat Simulator, where it lasts for 20 seconds.
The Skedar in the ruins also have a cloaking ability, but whether this is from the device or some other means is unknown.

In-Game Description
Edit
Uses the light-warping qualities of an alien crystal to create a refractive field around the wearer. Functions as long as there is little kinetic disturbance within the field boundary; the act of firing a gun is enough to cause a return to visibility.
Notes
Edit
- It's probable that the alien crystal the description mentions originates from the Skedar, judging from the enemies found in the final mission and the fact that Mr. Blonde carries one in his mission.
- If the unlimited ammo cheat is on and you use one in campaign then the Cloaking Device has unlimited time usage.
Appearances
Edit
The only time the player gets to use the cloaking device is in Mr. Blonde's Revenge, where it lasts for 30 seconds. In the G5 Building mission, there are several cloaked guards in the early stages. There are more dataDyne guards in the mission Deep Sea: Nullify Threat using these devices.
Trivia
Edit

Added by Droginator1- There is a cloaking device in the game Super Smash Bros. Melee which is very similar in appearance to Perfect Dark's cloaking device. The item's trophy does not state the name of the game it originates from, only listing "TOP SECRET". It does not appear in the sequel, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, most likely because Rare was bought by Microsoft Game Studios.
